The Caribbean 2006 Grant Cycle is now closed and applications have been reviewed by the Caribbean Community Review Panel through a meeting in Grenada on August 20th to August 24th.  Notes on this meeting are available below in English and Spanish.  Please see the 2006 Caribbean grants list below.

The regional workshop for the Caribbean region was held in October of 2004 in St. Lucia to select the Community Review Panel for the region.  The CRP acts as a decision making body for the region and consists of activists living and working in the region.  The chosen CRP met in San Juan, Puerto Rico in March of 2005.  The Regional Coordinating Organization selected was PR Concra and the Regional Coordinator was Jennifer N. Arriaga.  The CRP members selected were:

  • Liony Accelus - Haiti

  • Rachel Charles – Hope Pals, Grenada

  • Andrew Davies – St. Lucia

  • Olive Edwards – Jamaican Network of Seropositives, Jamaica

  • Felipa Garcia – Insalud Asolsida, Domincan Republic

  • Rosaura Lopez – PR Concra, Puerto Rico (Regional Coordinator)

  • Ethel Pengal – Suriname

  • Wellington Solomon Adderly – BNN+, Bahamas

  • Catherine Williams – CRN+, Community Active Resource, Trinidad/Tobago

The initial grant application process was finalized and requests for proposals were distributed on 31 March 2005. The application set a ceiling of $20,000 per grant. The deadline for applications was 29 April 2005 and successful applicants were informed by 15 May 2005. A majority of the grants were distributed in July of 2005.  Please click here for the grants list.

The Caribbean Regional Advisory Committee has a dual role and also acts as the Community Review Panel for the Collaborative Fund grant making process in the region as well as the representative body for the ITPC in the Caribbean.

A website and a yahoo group was being established to support the work of the regional committee: www.crpg.com and ccrpg@yahoogroups.com.  Andrew Davies and Olive Edwards represent the Caribbean region on the ITPC International Steering Committee, and the Global Advisory Board for the Collaborative Fund.  To avoid conflicts of interest, they act in an advisory, not voting capacity in regional decisions.

Regional Definition: The region defined itself as including Suriname, Belize and Guyana from mainland Latin America and all island nations in the Caribbean region. Many Collaborative Fund materials will be available in English, Spanish, Creole and Dutch.
We have received the reports from the 2005 Caribbean Grantees.  Please click on the organizations below to see their latest updates:

During the implementation period, the grantees received technical assistance (TA) through one workshop in which the content was completely defined by the grantees and members of the CRP. At this point in time, the CCRP is getting ready to monitor and evaluate all the projects funded while getting ready to start the funding cycle for 2006. The 2005 funding cycles for most of the 9 organizations will end between the months of May and June and a final project and financial report will be submitted by all the programs in the next couple of weeks.

The 2006 Grant Application for the Caribbean was distributed in June and July and the grant deadline was August 1, 2006.  Please see below for a list of documents that were distributed to applicants.  These documents are for historical purposes and should not be used to submit applications for 2007.  A CRP meeting was held in Grenada from August 20th to August 24th to evaluate the proposals received and decide on a list of grantees for 2006.  The CRP completed a second round of grant making funding 11 projects in 10 countries with an emphasis on treatment education and support for people with AIDS as they engage health care systems.  Please click here for a short list of Caribbean grantees.   Please click here for a list of the 2006 Caribbean summaries of the grantee projects.
